ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Brandon Fung and I study computer science at the University of Maryland. I am from Old Bridge, NJ, a quiet suburb on the outskirts of New York City. I chose to attend the University of Maryland because of its competitive computer science program. I was also drawn to the fact that it is just outside of Washington DC, and only a 3 hour drive from home. Finally, the University of Maryland's vast alumni network was very appealing and I fully intend to use this to my advantage to connect with and seek advice from successful graduates.
Regarding my major, I aim to completely understand the laws of computer science, gaining the ability to create algorithms of my own to solve real-life problems. I am also part of the media scholars program, which aims to analyze the role that various forms of media play in family life, politics, the economy and other elements of society, examining the effects of advancements in the industry. With my involvement in the media scholars program, I want to be able to realize the power of media on society and draw a significant connection to computer science.
